The Girl of Dorcha Wood by Kristin Ward
Treacherous. Evil. Dark. Dorcha Wood is all of these. And none of them.
The people of Felmore talk of Dorcha Wood in whispers, if they speak of it at all, fearing the wrath of the Cù-Sìth should their words be carried on the wind. Those murdering beasts still roam the darkness of the forest, the last remnants of the cursed Aos Sí, a race of elves, long since vanished from the world.
But to seventeen-year-old Fiadh, it is home. A haven. A forest whose secrets become known only when it chooses to reveal them. Her life is one of balance until the outside world shatters it.
From the moment Fiadh set eyes on Gideon, the peaceful rhythm of her life was lost. As a new path unfolds, Fiadh confronts the reality of old hatreds, the consequences of things hidden, and the truth of who she really is.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I’ve been fascinated with Celtic mythology and wanted to create a series that infuses young adult fantasy with Celtic legends.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Many of my supporting characters are my own interpretation of creatures from Celtic mythology. My main character is the bridge between the world of legends and the realm of men.

When the slaughter had come to its grisly end, they fled. Those who remained took them‐ selves into hidden recesses scattered across many lands. They mourned the dead and counted the living. In exile, they waited. They grew cold and hardened. Bitter and
powerful.
As years turned to decades, they bred. Bred hatred and bred numbers. Until both swelled beyond the ability to contain them.
Then, her name was whispered on the wind.
