Interview with Author – Langdon Franz

I grew up a Navy brat and for the first twenty years of my life, I was moving every two to three years. I’ve lived everywhere from Maine to South Carolina to Washington State. Because of this, I didn’t have many friends growing up, so I found my solace in reading fantasy novels. By the time I was thirteen, I was already working on writing my own stories. They weren’t very good. When I was twenty-two, I joined the Navy, got married and moved to Washington State to operate a nuclear reactor on a submarine. Six years later, and I was out and moved back to North Carolina where I currently reside with my wife, two daughters, two dogs and two cats. I finished my Bachelors in Nuclear Engineering Technology in 2016 and quickly realized I no longer wanted anything to do with nuclear power and power plants. I began writing again, and by 2020 I had completed two books and started a third. But like my attempts when I was thirteen, they weren’t very good. I decided to pursue a MA in English and Creative Writing and finished it in 2022. One year later, and I’ve published my first book, Heirs of the Promise!

Interview with Author – Remy Apepp

Remy is fond of understatements. Some of Remy’s favorite understatements include the following:

Remy likes writing.

If stories were stars, Remy would want to write an entire night sky full.

Remy writes stories for the same reason explorers adventure into and chart unknown territories—and also for the same reason people treat headaches by drinking water, eating snacks, taking pain meds, going for light walks, and getting rest.

All Remy wants from life is to write stories that touch you in the same place music does; that make you think differently than before; and that linger in your mind as if they’d been written into clay tablets rather than printed on paper or typed on screens.

Also, Remy can write a novel in a month but can’t write an author bio in a year.

Interview with Author – Katherine Vick

Katherine Vick was born in the middle bit of England longer ago than she’d care to admit (1979, if you must know. Aren’t you nosy?). She studied Geography at University of Wales, Aberystwyth, writing her dissertation on the Role of Landscape and Culture in Fantasy Novels. She then moved onto a Master’s degree in Literary Studies and Creative Writing at University of Central England, where she wrote the dissertation that inspired the creation of Fodder, so she hopes you’ll feel she put her education to good use. She flirted briefly with fast food and retail work before settling down as a college administrator. She spends occasional weekends on historic battlefields in her capacity as a rather clumsy late medieval re-enactor. She (mis)spent a part of her youth writing stories based around other people’s literary and media creations. She likes to read and watch fantasy, history and science fiction – frankly anything that gets her away from the real world, which is far too much trouble. Occasionally she even gets around to writing stuff.

Interview with Author – Cady Hammer

Interview with Author – Cady Hammer

I have always been a writer. I wrote my first novel at the age of eleven between classes. Although that text will never see the light of day, I continued experimenting with stories throughout my school years. I was often teased for being off in my own world a bit, but I have never hesitated to invite others along on the adventure I was weaving. My college studies of history and anthropology play a major role in the worldbuilding in my stories, particularly this debut novel. It is always my goal to create a world that readers want to step into, a world where they can breathe in the air and feel the wind on their skin as they stroll through a market or a city center. I also run the internationally-read website, Fluff About Fantasy, a place for young writers to learn the genre-specific craft of writing fantasy and be inspired by what they can accomplish. It is important to me to get more young people writing and creating. I know that there are a lot of talented middle school, high school, and college students who just need a little push to get them started.

Interview with Author – D. V. Stone

Interview with Author – D. V. Stone

Hi, my name is D. V. Stone. I am a multi-genre author. I also host Welcome to the Campfire and A Peek Through the Window, both weekly blogs. Here’s a little more about me.

Born in Brooklyn, D.V. Stone has moved around a bit and even lived for a time on a dairy farm in Minnesota before moving back east. Throughout her wandering, she always considered herself a Jersey Girl. She met and married the love of her life, Pete—a lifelong Jersey Man, and moved this time to Sussex County. They live with Hali, a mixed breed from the local shelter and their cat Baby.
D.V.’s career path varied from working with the disabled to become a volunteer EMT, which in turn led to working in hospital emergency rooms and then in a women’s state prison. After a few years, she took a break from medicine and became the owner of Heavenly Brew, a specialty coffee shop in Sparta NJ, and a small restaurant in Lafayette. Life handed some setbacks, and she ended up back in the medical field, but this time in a veterinary emergency hospital.
During the poor economy, she was laid–off from a long-time position she cared about. Devastated, D.V. wondered what to do with her life. Finding comfort in her love of reading, she realized it was now time to follow her dream of writing. It’s been a long road but worth every minute of it. Now a published author, she also works in a people medical office again.
