Haley Anna Marie Author Bio:
Due to childhood deafness, the writer inside created stories to match the pictures in the books being read to me. Once my hearing was corrected at the age of 7, I fell in love with storytelling.
My six-book dark fantasy series, Elementas, is my prized possession. I can’t wait to share my story with the world.
What inspires you to write?
I find writing a healthy outlet of self-care. It's a way to escape reality, focus on something other than the day-to-day stress and struggles. Nothing is greater than fantasy.
Tell us about your writing process.
I outline my entire book, and series. Using simple Word, I have the chapters, who is narrating, what happens, sometimes even specific dialogues. I know what is going to happen, and what will be said, for the most part, all the way to the end of book six. I even have a character list of descriptions, habits, flaws, and goals. I call all of this my "author bible."
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Neither. I more of "become" them. Try to see it through their eyes by asking myself "is this a natural way of acting, talking, and interacting?"
Who are your favorite authors?
Patrick Rothfuss is my current favorite author. I am excited for his third book to come out in his trilogy, whenever that may be. He has a side story coming out in November, so that will do!
What genres do you write?
Fantasy, though specifically, dark fantasy.
How did you choose the genre(s) you write?
I'm a huge fan of morally gray characters, darker themes, and enjoy it when there isn't always a happy ending. The "perfect" morals and happy endings are old to me. I love death and destruction.
What three things are on your writing desk at any given moment?
I'm a neat freak and don't like clutter, but Dr. Pepper is always at my side, and my phone since I forget I have access to the internet on my desktop and use that.
What hobbies do you have when you need a break from writing?
I'm a hiker through and through, walk the beach, play RPG, and even cross-stitch.
What formats are your books in?
eBook, Print
