Author Bio:
Marie Godley resides in Christchurch, Dorset with her family. Luckily enough to live in a town with historical buildings to roam around, as well as having the sea and the New Forest National Park nearby, she has plenty to do when taking a break from writing.
What inspires you to write?
The story gets stuck in my head until I wrote it down. The things around me often make it into my stories though, especially scenery.
Tell us about your writing process.
An idea comes to me and I start writing. I may have no idea what the outcome of the story when i begin. I write by hand using pen and paper because that feels right to me.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
They guide me, sometimes a scene goes in a completely different direction to where it was going when i picked up my pen.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Milly Johnson and Trisha Ashley, easy to read with some humour. I like Jane Austen and many YA books. I still have the Chronicles of Narnia and a wonderful copy of the Hobbit.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I had some good feedback on my books but they never got taken on by a traditional publisher. The obvious step was to self publish, it was that or they wouldn't go anywhere.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It can be strong, as long as we all do our best both in our own work and promoting other authors.
