What inspires you to write?
I like a good story and enjoy the process of piecing together the plot, setting and characters. It’s a challenge, but rewarding when it comes together.
Tell us about your writing process.
I start with a basic plot and then add the main characters. The next step is research: I want to get the setting and any historical facts right. Then I start writing. After the first draft I go back and flesh out the characters and add texture to the settings. Finally, the painful part…revise, revise, revise!
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Yes! The characters are always speaking to me. In fact they take over. Characters I had planned on being minor take on a bigger role and vice versa.
Who are your favorite authors?
John Krakauer, T.H. White, Larry McMurtry
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to self-publish because I thought it was the most expeditious way to get Chasing Dragons out there.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
That’s a good question. It seems that there are many opportunities for Indie authors, but promotion and distribution remain major challenges. I’d say the jury is still out.
What genres do you write?
mystery, thriller, humor
What formats are your books in?
