Author Bio:
Elizabeth J. M. Walker has always loved books and writing. She lives in Canada with her husband and their cats. She is the author of the YA books She Dreamed of Dragons and This Night Sucks.
What inspires you to write?
Words and stories…There are so many stories waiting to be told.
Tell us about your writing process.
I get ideas and usually let them simmer…mostly because I'm already working on something else and if I stopped what I was working on to start on a new idea, I would never finish anything. So, ideas will sit and simmer and when I'm ready for a new project I will pick one that seems the most ready. And try to plan. But then I will start writing and sometimes I follow the plan and sometimes I don't. And then I figure out what's wrong with it and re-write it. And keep doing that until I feel happy with it. Or you know…happy enough.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
No, I don't. They just…exist in their own world.
Who are your favorite authors?
Many. Mostly YA fantasy writers…you know, people like Kristin Cashore and Sarah J. Maas and J. K. Rowling and Maureen Johnson and Rainbow Rowell.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
If you want to self-publish and you actually want your book to look good and be properly edited, it costs a lot of money. I can't afford that, so it's not even an option. I also like the team feeling that being with a publisher gives you.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I try not to think about it too much. I write because I love to write.
What genres do you write?
Young Adult, Middle Grade, Fantasy, Paranormal, Comedy
What formats are your books in?
eBook, Print, Audiobook
