What inspires you to write?
The thought of finishing it and the gratification that comes with that. I want to be able to make a living doing what I love and the only way that will happen is to keep writing and finishing projects. I am inspired by own crazy imagination. I was the kid staring out the window at school instead of paying attention, the dreamer…perfect for a writer, not so perfect for school.
Tell us about your writing process.
All I have is a notebook, I write down ideas, titles, characters and will change things up as I want. The serial killer thriller I am working on now will be the first one that I am doing a timeline on. It is a much serious form of my writing and it needs to be very detailed with characters and dates, for this book I plan on buying a dry-erase board and work it like a detective would. I am excited to work on something like this, my favorite shows are crime related.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My mind works fast, I am on to the next thing, I don’t think I get caught up like that at all. My goals is to get on to the next scene and make everything come together. I can see how people can do that though. I do everything fast in my life, I can barely sit still, I become more engaged with my characters at the end of the book but I feel I will be on this page with the book i’m writing now, as it has such a serious tone.
Who are your favorite authors?
Anne Bishop, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Preston & Child.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I threw my books out into the world hoping to get a publisher, I was rejected and that was hard. They liked my stories but my editing was horrible. I felt I had no hope as I didn’t have time to go back to school for writing classes and I had all these ideas in my head so I self published for a year with few sales. The next year I threw the books out again and this time the universe listened. I was honored to have found my Amore Moon Publishing/TWB Press. who acknowledged my stories and helped me with editing.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think it’s come a long way with Indie writers and publishers opening this world on the internet which is a great thing, it also becomes a shark zone because the competition is nuts!. You have to love to write, if the universe gives you a paycheck at the end of your long days, consider yourself lucky. Keep writing. Not sure where it will go from here, it cannot get much more diverse with the internet and self publishing.
