Author Bio:
Michelle Hughes is an Alabama author who’s self-published 20 books. Recently, she was awarded a publishing contract with Kindle Scout. A few of her bestsellers are the Fantasy Bar & Grill series which includes five books, the You Don’t Know Jack Series, Sin, Rude, and the book named after her website, Tears of Crimson.
Raised as an Air Force brat, she traveled the world. Her love of writing comes from teaching her grandmother to read since she worked on a cotton farm in Alabama, and wasn’t allowed a full education. Michelle was also a country singer/songwriter who appeared on the Midnight Jamboree in Nashville and toured for twelve years with a satellite talent showcase.
What inspires you to write?
My mind is always filled with stories. If I didn't write, I'm sure my head would explode. Obviously, that wouldn't be a pretty picture, so I write.
Tell us about your writing process.
I'm a fly by the seat of my pants type of gal. I hate outlines and love writing what I feel at the moment. So far that has worked well for me.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
You want to lock me up, don't you? Yes, when I'm in writers mode I do talk and listen to my characters. In dreams, they rarely shut up!
Who are your favorite authors?
I've been blessed at being surrounded by incredible authors, so it wouldn't be fair to just name a few. I am learning a lot from my new Kindle Scout Winner friends, in the private authors group.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I self-published until this month when I was awarded a Kindle Scout contract.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think it's going to be ruled by self-published authors.
