Author Bio:
I was raised in the North Inner City of Dublin. Spent most of my childhood in the care with my grandparents and extended family. After being expelled from a number of schools, I began working a manual labour job. It was a tough job and after six years of this work, I returned to school – where I completed my secondary school training. From there I qualified for a number of business qualifications ( boring stuff) however my discovery of literature and my love of reading motivated to begin writing my first book. Fia the Envoy was penned during my lunch and it was my first published novel. Although a Dystopian novel – it was laced with crime. From here I moved onto writing Crime Novels. My first Crime Novel -The Takeover has received a lot of acclaim and I was contracted within a month of finishing the novel. So now, my attention is fixed squarely on crime writing.
What inspires you to write?
The sheer love of writing. I would have no problem writing, 8 -12 hours a day. Love it!!
Tell us about your writing process.
Only lately, I’ve started planning a novel. Before it was an organic process that developed as I wrote. The mind seemed to ignite once I began to hit those buttons…difficult to explain but it’s a very natural process.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I listen to my characters. They seem to come alive as you develop each one. What may start out as a pre-planned destiny can be altered by the road and traits of each and every character.
Who are your favorite authors?
Michael Connolly, John Connolly, Don Winslow, JK Rowling…the list is endless…
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I don’t know much about SEld-Publishing -so I’ve been following a tried and tested – albeit painful at times -path.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
We humans have a great propensity to adapt to our environment. I’m not too worried…I think we’ll be OK!
What genres do you write?
Crime, Dystopian,
What formats are your books in?
eBook, Print
