Author Bio:
Award-winning author Leigh Court writes historical and contemporary romance. She’s been writing since age eleven, starting with wild adventure stories for her elementary school newsletter, growing up to be a television news journalist whose assignments took her on real life adventures.
After traveling most of the world, she segued into the more normal job of public relations, but she’s never stopped writing. She now writes romantic fiction because she wants her readers to be able to escape into a story guaranteed to have a happy ending!

What inspires you to write?
A lot of my inspiration comes from “What If?” questions (usually after I’ve had a couple of cocktails). As a writer, an impossible idea usually gets my imagination going.
Tell us about your writing process.
I’m definitely a “pantser” (seat of the pants) kind of writer. I know how a story starts and how it ends, but writing from point A to point Z is the fun part! Of course, when writer’s block hits (as it does sometimes) then I wish I was a “plotter.” But honestly, it’s less fun if you’re writing from an outline. Sometimes you just have to listen to what your characters tell you they want to do!
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Oh, I definitely listen to my characters. See above answer!
Who are your favorite authors?
There are amazing writers in every genre, but I love Jane Austen, Dorothy Dunnett, and yes, Stephenie Meyer. I think her Twilight books are awesome!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I’m a “hybrid” author — traditionally published as well as Indie published. I think this is an amazing time for writers. If a story gets rejected by big publishers, you can now publish it yourself! Indie authors also have much more control over their book, from the cover to the editing to the marketing.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think Indie publishing will continue to give traditional publishers a run for their money, and rightly so. The public (i.e. the reader) is the one buying books, so why should a traditional publisher decide what gets into print or not? Readers should have the choice to read what they want, and with Indie publishing, a reader’s choice is much more expanded.

Historical, Contemporary
