Author Bio:
Hi, I’m Brandon Jones, I’m a 29-year-old pastor in a small rural town in South Carolina. I’ve pastored the same church for only 4 years so far, and hope to stay there for a lifetime. I love my girlfriend Megan, we’ve been together for 3 years now. In the rarity that is called spare time, I like to spend time with Megan, and friends, or go fishing.
What inspires you to write?
When something has a profound impact on me, and/or others it makes me want to explore it more and writing is a great outlet to help process what I've learned or am learning.
Tell us about your writing process.
This is my first book and it is based on a sermon series I did at my church so I used the outline that I did for the series as well as the messages that I turned into chapters. This was a series that long after I had finished it I couldn't get it off of my mind so I kept playing with the idea and finally started writing. About halfway through my computer crashed and I lost the entire book (which I talk about in the chapter on patience), so I had to start over. As for day to day writing, I'd get comfortable and write in a recliner. In the editing process, I'd sit on a comfortable rug and spread everything out. It was a new, exciting, and scary process since I had no idea what I was doing!
Who are your favorite authors?
Charles Stanley, Adrian Rogers, Creston Mapes, Ernest Hemingway, Francis Chan. Any novel Creston Mapes has put out I will sit and read in one or two sittings. "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan is the only book that I have reread more than once. I usually reread it every year.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I went to a conference where they had a breakout session on publishing. The gentleman who was our instructor had done both traditional publishing and self-publishing. After that session, I had decided that self-publishing was the best option for me.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think it will be both/and. Both traditional publishing, and self-publishing. The market is so huge that I don't think any one way will take over the other.
What genres do you write?
Christian Living
What formats are your books in?
