Author Bio:
I was born in Nottingham in 1964 and I still live only a few miles from the city.
I left school at fifteen and immediately began work in a garden centre. Over the next fourteen years I worked my way up to General Manager.
In need of a new challenge I opened my own greeting card and gift shop in a suburb of Derby.
Twenty-three years later I still own the business but my wish is to leave the daily nine-five and establish myself as a full-time author.
Inspired by Stephen King and Wilbur Smith, I published my first novel Timelock in 2013 and subsequently followed on with a science fiction story, Hologram Dreams in spring of 2016.
My current as yet untitled project is a return to horror and my love of the macabre.
What inspires you to write?
From a young age I have always had a vivid imagination and the joy of creating for my own and other's entertainment has always been my inspiration.
Tell us about your writing process.
My initial ideas always come from dreams this sets the theme for the book. I usually begin the process with the creation of a character list, and the main settings for the story, but apart from that everything usually evolves as I write.
As a busy man my time for writing is limited so the usual format is to complete a rough copy and then return to each scene numerous times, developing extra idea into the story.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I see the world through the eyes of every character I create. Only by thinking like them can I hope to achieve a believable persona.
Who are your favorite authors?
My two favorite Authors are Wilbur Smith and Stephen King
Their passion for in depth description for nearly every scene paints a vivid mental picture and draws me in.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
The publishing world has always been a close knit community and for most, trying to find a book deal has been next to impossible. The development of self-publishing with world-wide exposure for minimum outlay is the perfect solution.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Ebooks can only go from strength to strength. and with the advent of print on demand services, the need for agents and publishing houses will decline to serve only the biggest named authors.
What genres do you write?
Horror, Science Fiction
What formats are your books in?
eBook, Print
