Madeline Ridley had it all: a handsome, successful husband, a place at the top of Santa Barbara society and every luxury money could buy. In all respects, her world was perfect…until she awoke in the early morning hours in an unfamiliar hotel room, alone, unclothed, with a splitting headache and no memory of how she got there.
When Steven Ridley comes home in the middle of a weekday and throws a sheaf of damning photos at her, Madeline’s enviable world collapses in a swirl of blackmail, sabotage and deceit. Hoping to convince Steven of her innocence, Madeline drives to his office and witnesses a scene that makes her realize who the enemy really is.
From that point on, Madeline deconstructs herself, reverting back to Madeline Dawkins while she tries to salvage what’s left of her life. In the process, she discovers where her true strengths lay. Utilizing those, she steels herself for battle, while her life hangs in the balance.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The inspiration for Madeline came to me out of the blue one morning. In a flash I saw a female detective who came by her profession the hard way after her husband systematically sets out to destroy her life in order to save his own hide.
Because there was so much backstory to this character, I realized a prequel to the series was in order. It was wonderful to watch Madeline deal with every cold-blooded, self-serving, rotten trick to get rid of Madeline cheaply so he could marry a rich divorcee in order to replace the monies he'd siphoned off from his clients.
Madeline has shown strengths far beyond what I initially imagined. She is the gift that keeps giving and keeps me on my toes trying to keep up with her.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Once I had Madeline's backstory in place, the supporting characters just materialized. Writing the first book was so fun for me because there were so many avenues open, thanks to the initial premise. Some of the characters in Spouse Trap have reappeared in subsequent books.
