What inspires you to write?
It isn’t a certain thing that inspires me to write. As a matter of fact my inspiration is spontaneous. All the facts in life could be an inspiration for me depends what happen to my life, what I have seen, what I have feel, what kind of people react with my life and my mind and my soul, what are the actions of them and their motivations… I am a very analytic person and I have the habit to analyse all the actions, motivations, talks, ideas and paths of mine and all the people. And in that journey of analyze, something born in myself and that born is my inspiration. Then I have to write it. So simple.
Tell us about your writing process.
I use all the ways of writing! I am a seat of the pants writer, that is a fact. I have my pen, my ink, my white pages… I really love old ways of writing. And it is easily to bring them with me when I decide to write in a coffee shop for example. But also, I like technology. So, I am an outliner in the same time. I use a simple word software to write my books. I pick the size and the color of the pages (really loving all that colors to choose from the panel of the word, so please add more!) and here I am! The book flows into the pages easily and smooth. Some books of mine are written in my laptop.
As far as the writing process, no I don’t create sketches of the characters in the paper, I choose characters of my own environment and I tell their stories. Even my poetry book are plenty of that characters. But the reader has to discover them. They hide themselves into my verses and into my books. They are shy to expose themselves in an audience. And that’s because they live in different worlds. They live in their minds. And sometimes they come outside to see me. That is the time that one of them speaks his story. And that is the time that I write his story. All that things are being automatically of course. Do not imagine that I order the stories and the verses, but as we speak now , this idea seems fantastic! We really have in front of us the theme of my new book: “The restaurant of order ideas”! You see? That is how a book start to be! Now I must write it ! It will refuse to go away until I make the story.
Who are your favorite authors?
Well I have stay all night reading many times in my life. I am a pathological reader, I admit it.
But Mario Vargas Liosa from Peru is my favorite author of course! I really love his writing, his ideas, his point of view, his mind. I stayed all night reading “The Storyteller” . And read it again and again and again.
In the past, I have also a reading passion with Arthur Perez Reverte. “The Club Dumas” and ” The Flanders Panel” are some of my favorites.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Well, in my case really matter to have a person that understand me in the field of books and one that we can collaborate clearly and effective. I like to own myself and my conversation with others, so I like a publisher who own himself and keep his word. I like persons and collaboration with them, so I prefer a publisher that will tell me his opinion for my books and he knows his work. After all the edition is a work for publishers and the write is for the authors. Otherwise authors wouldn’t have time to write at all! And beyond all of that, I like to belong in my life. I am an emotional person.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
That is a question that I make in a Greek book editor years ago. He answer me that the future is now and if we wonder for tomorrow we wouldn’t publishing today. So let us publishing today and now for the tomorrow!
