Author Bio:
My name is Susan Antony and I write young adult fiction. Becoming a writer was a childhood dream I’d buried years ago. One day in the recent past while spring-cleaning, I came across a fifty-page novel I’d written as a ten-year-old and my long forgotten passion awoke again. I currently live in South Carolina with my sixteen-year-old son and two naughty but adorable Cairn Terriers.
What inspires you to write?
It is more of a desire to write, though most often my inspiration comes from a place I've visited or an element of a life experience of which I've twisted and molded into fiction. Sometime both.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am a seat of the pants writer. My characters come to me when I'm driving or take long walks. They play around in my head for a year or two before I put them down on paper. By the time I am ready to write, the whole novel has been silently written in my imagination.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My characters never speak directly to me. They play like a movie in my head. When I'm writing, they sometimes hijack the story and take it in different direction. For example, a helpless, sweet girl might grow a backbone and or develop a temper or stubborn streak or the nice boy might be hiding a dark secret he doesn't reveal until later. Sometimes new characters appear while I'm writing a scene and lead it in a different direction.
Who are your favorite authors?
Choosing favorites are practically impossible for me. I like so many things. Even my favorite color changes depending on the circumstances.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Cherokee Summer won the in YA category in The Gateway to the Best contest sponsored by the Missouri Romance Writer's of America based on the first 7000 words. My editor, Kinan Werdski from The Wild Rose Press was the judge and requested a full manuscript. So, here I am.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I am just a writer so I'm not sure I am qualified or have the knowledge to answer this question. And I certainly don't have a crystal ball, but it appears to be moving toward print on demand and e-publishing.
What genres do you write?
YA Contemporary, Romance, and Paranormal
What formats are your books in?
eBook, Print
