Author Bio:
I grew up in northern New Jersey with my brother and sister. We share treasured memories of high school, the Jersey shore, and skiing with cousins. All of which became part of April’s Heart! I went to college in Washington DC and became a teacher. I now live in Virginia Beach, Virginia with my husband of thirty years. Our two boys are in there twenties making their own way in the world.
What inspires you to write?
I always wondered if I had a book in me. In 1977 I kept a diary for a whole year, and kept scrapbooks of each school year after that almost through college. These things were my inspiration! I poured through all of it and came up with my premise of a life long relationship that I based on my own experiences back in the day with several relationships.
Tell us about your writing process.
My preferred method of exercise is power walking. Through all those hours and miles I think and think about what should happen next and where the story is going. I get inspired by the music coming through my earbuds and make note of phrases and ideas I think are romantic, provocative or sexy. I write notes when I get home, before I forget what I was thinking, hoping to incorporate it all into the story somewhere.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I want to connect with what the characters are FEELING. Through my words I try to portray the emotion and angst by describing thoughts, facial expressions, even hand gestures. April's thoughts are often unanswered questions. I love that part.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love romance, especially erotic romance, so Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James is a favorite. I also really like the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I wrote one or two queries before I realized that was a dead end. I chose KDP because it is free.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The fact that anyone can publish easily and for free may make traditional publishers take pause. Even famous people publish on KDP.
What genres do you write?
Romance, Love, Erotic Romance, Coming of Age
What formats are your books in?
eBook, Print
