What inspires you to write?
The joy of creating worlds – i.e. playing at God!
Tell us about your writing process.
I write most mornings, but try and leave the afternoons for other things – golf, swimming, admin etc. The creative mind needs time to work subconsciously. I also like to be writing on a patio or by an open window, where air and light are plentiful.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I don’t outline. I need to have a beginning, a theme, and a probable end, but how I get there depends entirely on where the characters take me.
What advice would you give other writers?
Revise, revise, revise. Broaden, broaden, broaden. Simplify, simplify, simplify.
