Rishikesh Upadhyay Author Bio:
Dr. Rishikesh Upadhyay was born, grew up and lives in a small Nepalis’ hamlet, Bhanjang Basti (erstwhile Bhanjyang Basti) via Mahadev Tilla, at Haflong, the district headquarter of North Cachar Hills (now Dima Hasao), Assam, India. He was born to Pitambar Upadhaya (father) and Nandakala (Bawni) Upadhaya (mother). His father was in the Northeast Frontier Railway service and mother, a homemaker. He has earned an MSc in Plant Biochemistry, MPhil and PhD in Stress Biology from the University of Assam, India, and a BSc in Botany from Haflong Government College, Assam University.
Dr. Upadhyay write articles, books, research articles, poems, children’s, nonfiction titles, etc. and has spent the past decade working and teaching in higher educational institutions. His works have been appeared, quoted and cited in several international journals and books of repute.
What inspires you to write?
Well, I’m not sure where the inspiration came from. When I taught at the university or at a college, my lectures were like stories for the students. It has simply gone with the flow of thoughts and my writings. I knew I wanted to write. From there, it just took shape.
Tell us about your writing process.
That’s not specific. By day, I work at a local government college, and by night I pour my imagination out onto a page.

Who are your favorite authors?
There are just too many to count, any nonfiction books, books related to plants and their environments, some-times I read philosophy. For example, The Magic of Thinking Big, You can Win, any good Children’s storybooks, and many more!
What genres do you write?
Nonfiction, Poetry, Children's, Science, Nature, Environment, Literature
How did you choose the genre(s) you write?
I want something that educates me, and better yet, teaches me something good.
So, writing nonfiction is a natural fit for me! I sometime writes poems and children's too.
What hobbies do you have when you need a break from writing?
I prefer teaching.
