What inspires you to write?
I'll see something and watch something and my brain wanders off into it's own little land of adventure.
Tell us about your writing process.
I love history, so when I want to start a story a plot line is written down and then I do extensive research. I want my books to be historically accurate for the time period. I use notebooks that get filled with ideas about the story and how I want the characters' personalities to intertwine with each other and off I go.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
By the time I'm a quarter of the way through a fiction story, they're very real to me.
Who are your favorite authors?
No favorites. I read specific genres. I've read so many books that I couldn't come close to naming all the authors.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Way back when……I was originally published with a publishing house. In the last few years, I've gone indie. I have one book left with the publishing house and when that's done, I'll no longer be considered a hybrid author. However, I've looked at several publishing houses and may consider going with one of them.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the swing is going back to publishers. Readers are getting tired of non-professionally published indies and it's leaving a very bad taste in their mouths. Books cost a lot of money and if it's not done right it hurts all of us. My indie books are all done professionally, exactly how a standard publishing house would handle it.
What genres do you write?
non fiction, fiction, time travel, historical, contemporary, cozy mystery, children's, journals
What formats are your books in?
eBook, Print, Audiobook
