Author Bio:
I am the author of the suspense romance “Waves Crashing” and Sci-Fi thriller “The Death Firm.” I am currently working on the sequel to “The Death Firm” entitled “The Re-creation of the Death Firm.” I have worked for several newspapers in Kansas and Texas. I also was a freelance writer for the University of Houston-Victoria and Grinnell College. I currently am a Data and Records Assistant at Grinnell College. I graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.
What inspires you to write?
I have always had an overdeveloped imagination and love the craft of storytelling. I am inspired everyday by what I see in the news, what I read about in books, the lyrics I listen to in songs, through personal experiences, and observing people. I find inspiration all around me.
Tell us about your writing process.
It all starts off with an idea. From there, I write out an outline, a list of characters, and the location. I write out the backgrounds, the motives, and personality traits for each of the characters. I have to set a schedule for myself to write and limit the distractions. I have to encourage myself to keep going. I have to thoroughly edit each draft of my novels as well.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I can hear the characters voices in my mind and I can visualize what they look like and how they behave. Sometimes, they are inspired by real people whom I interact with often. I sometimes read out their quotes out loud to make sure they sound normal. I also consider the situation they are in. I ask myself what would I do or say in that kind of predicament.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have a tendency to stick with the classics. I absolutely love Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and Bram Stoker's Dracula. As a teen, I enjoyed reading R.L. Stine's Fear Street books, Stephen King, Mary Higgins Clark, Michael Crichton, and Danielle Steele. My favorite genres are horror and mystery.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I have a hybrid publisher, which is a combination of self-publishing and traditional publishing.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I honestly think that self-publishing is becoming easier everyday. Anyone can self-publish an e-Book these days. There are a number of hybrid publishers available as well.

Suspense Romance and Sci Fi
What formats are your books in?
