Kate Harriet Author Bio:
Ever thought this after reading a romance book?
• The only tears I want to fall after reading a story are tears of joy.
• I like books that aren’t too predictable and with strong character development.
• The whole novel had a good pace and was professionally written. Really satisfying.
If so, I’m Kate Harriet and I write uplifting, cosy reads for fans of romance- with warm, loveable characters and a heroine you’ll want to root for.
As an author and ghostwriter I have spent years writing for the kind of reader who loves an exciting read, set in picturesque and idyllic settings with just a splash of romance thrown in.
If that’s you then click today to start reading fun, feel-good books and short stories that will leave you smiling from ear to ear.
What inspires you to write?
I have always enjoyed romance books and rom coms with a feisty heroine, a determined hero and sparkling dialogue and this has inspired me to write my own romantic novels and short stories.
Tell us about your writing process.
As an outliner, I normally create a very bare bones outline in Notepad before I transfer it into Word. This allows me the flexibility of discovering the story as I write, while still having a guideline so I never have to face a blank page.
I tend to create character sketches after writing the first novel in a series to refer to when writing future romance books.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
As my characters tend to drive the plot I end up listening more than talking. They never allow me to finish a chapter or a book quite as I planned!
Who are your favorite authors?
My favourite author is Jane Austen as her books feature heroines from the meek, the meddlesome to the more spirited who stand their ground against society's rules and sometimes in spite of overwhelming odds.
However my latest favourite is Alexander Dumas, as I can never get to sleep till I find out what happens next in his ultimate novel of revenge: The Count of Monte Cristo.
What genres do you write?
romance, sweet romance, contemporary romance, holiday romance, small-town romance
How did you choose the genre(s) you write?
I write what I love. It’s what keeps me going when Word decides to update halfway through a chapter, turning my unsaved work into indecipherable hieroglyphics.
What three things are on your writing desk at any given moment?
On my writing desk are my laptop, the paperclipped bundle of multicoloured Post-It notes I keep on my laptop and my laptop.
What hobbies do you have when you need a break from writing?
Planting my orchard of peach trees in Animal Crossing then in real life trying different types of tea and growing the perfect Maris Pipers.
