Author Bio:
I emigrated from Austria and became a U.S. citizen, I love living here. I just retired and have all this time to continue writing and reading. K-9 Cop is my first book and I have written a couple of feature screenplays. My book has won 1st place in the Good Read Competition from awomenswrite and my screenplays have won various awards.
What inspires you to write?
I thought a Young Adult book would be a great idea to write for a first-time novelist. I always loved family orientated books and movies and was searching for a story that depicts the human condition with all its splendor and frailties. What better way than through a surly cop who has to go back to earth in the body of his K-9 partner? The cop needs to help a troubled teenager and his dysfunctional family in order to be redeemed.
Tell us about your writing process.
I have to outline on my Dramatica software or Writer’s Blocks. My characters are sketched out thoroughly before the first chapter is written. The theme motivates the characters and their actions. Going forward it’s just writing and rewriting. Even though everything is carefully planned at the start, many new ideas come into mind and the plot may take a different turn but the core of the story is still there.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I try to feel what they’re feeling. How will they react, how have I seen real people similar to them feel and react? Is their reaction true to their character? What motivates them?
Who are your favorite authors?
I love John Steinbeck (East of Eden) Ernest Hemingway (Of Mice and Men), Mark Twain (Huckleberry Finn) the Israeli author Ephraim Kishon (The Blaumilch Canal)
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I choose self-publishing since I found it nearly impossible for a first time writer to get an agent let alone a publisher.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
People will always read books. Although the publishing world has changed drastically since the age of the internet, a section of readers will still prefer the printed page. I personally love the digital age and am addicted to my Ipad. The ease of use and portability has simplified my life.
What genres do you write?
Humor, mystery,thriller, young adult
What formats are your books in?
eBook, Print, Audiobook
