Author Bio:
Danyelle is the Senior Pastor of New Vessels Ministries North in Shreveport, Louisiana. She is a dynamic author of both Christian fiction and non-fiction books. She studied Theology at Louisiana Baptist University, has a Psychology Degree from the University of Phoenix, an Interdisciplinary Degree in Psychology /Biblical Studies, and a Masters in Religious Education from Liberty University. She owns Divinely Sown Publishing LLC.
What inspires you to write?
I am definitely inspired by my readers who send emails, messages, and comments about how they look forward to the next book. It’s like I feel if I only reach that one reader who desires something fresh from me, then I have done my job as an author.
Tell us about your writing process.
Oftentimes, I’m that planner girl. I outline my chapters attacking at random whichever I’m led to do. Then there are times when I just fly by the seat of my pants. I think it depends on the type of book and my desired ending. I have most of my characters in mind and I write out a description of them. Every now and again, someone will pop up I never knew existed and causes me to get to know them as I write.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Oh my goodness yes. Sometimes, it is hard to get a character to be quiet so like most authors, I find myself talking, laughing, and sometimes crying as I write. I guess you can say, I feel the same emotions writing about the lives of these characters, as I would like the readers to feel.
Who are your favorite authors?
Some of my favorite authors are: the late Francis Ray, Brenda Barrett, Marion Ueckermann, and Jacqueline Thomas.
The last book I stayed up late reading was That’s Amore by Marion Ueckermann. She takes you on extravagant trips through her writing and I love it.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I am a self-published and I absolutely enjoy having creative freedom. I like so many authors would send in query letters to traditional publishers and after being turned down, I decided my book was worth the investment. I look at self-publishing as making an investment in yourself. I think I work extra hard to get the books perfected and promoted, but that comes with the territory.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the future of book publishing is so broad. I think that so many people are now able to express themselves through books, with no one to stop them but themselves. I also believe that there are tons of books being published and so many never go anywhere or beyond the box sitting behind the authors chair, or in the corner of their office. Why? Because just as wide as the opportunity to publish has become, the need to promote what you have published is even more important. Without promotions, books go no where.
