What inspires you to write?
"I have always written throughout my life, and i have also studied English Literature as well as Psychology, so the classical greats were very inspiring for me.
Also my work in the psychology sector inspires me to write self help and personal development books… there's nothing as rewarding as helping other people. So writing to help others is extremely rewarding and motivational… "
Tell us about your writing process.
"I've written seven non-fiction books, one fiction book and two books of poetry, so each genre has a different process.
The Mind Reader is a psychological thriller whereby my characters and the storyline developed as the book was written.
Non-fiction books have more research and structure involved… as well as case studies, fact and analysis.
Poetry has its own structure and beat. And it's more emotion based. I write rhyming poetry predominantly as I love to match words and emotions in my poetry.
Writing always starts with a passion. If you love words, then you have to follow your passion… "
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
"Characters are usually based on people you know, or even yourself to a degree, so your characters come to life through you.
So in many ways you do talk to them and they talk to you. It can't be helped! Your characters definitely come alive through your words!"
Who are your favorite authors?
"I read a lot of George Orwell plus I studied him at school and college for English Literature..
My favourite book being 1984… "
How did you decide how to publish your books?
"Its good to get a publisher if you can… then you don't feel alone. Although it's also great to self publish as you are in control of the whole process.
So both options are great… "
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
"It looked like printed books would go out of fashion at some point, especially with ebooks and kindle, but there has been a resurgence of books and nothing beats a real book!!"
What genres do you write?
"I write non-fiction books, poetry books, and I have also written a Psychological Thriller… So it's quite a broad spectrum really!!"
What formats are your books in?
