Author Bio:
A city girl, born and bred, I set my stories in and around southeast Pennsylvania, or at least have a character or two from the area. I wrote my first book in kindergarten and even then, my style leaned toward suspense. In addition to being a mother and grandmother, I work as a legal professional when I’m not writing, reading, or dancing. And I am proud to tell people I make my own dreams come true…one happily ever after at a time.
What inspires you to write?
Almost anything and everything can inspire a story. In fact, my dad's dog inspired a short story about a werewolf and a reporter that grew into my first full-length book and spawned an entire romantic suspense series.
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing process is rather scattered. I normally start, very seat of the pants, pretty much following where the characters take me. But if/when I get stuck on what happens next – and it happens – I prepare an outline and a cast sheet of who's who. That usually gets me back on track and it's handy when it's time to write the synopsis.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I hate to admit this because it makes me sound like a nutcase but I'll run through both sides of a dialogue, out loud, just to hear the cadence. My mom used to worry about how often she caught me talking to myself but I think I convinced her it's okay.
Who are your favorite authors?
I adore Nora Roberts/JD Robb, Tami Hoag, Patricia Cornwell, Jeffrey Archer, and Agatha Christie.
What genres do you write?
Romantic-suspense, erotic thrillers, noir
How did you choose the genre(s) you write?
I didn't choose the genres in which I write. They choose me. I write what appeals to me, what I enjoy reading, essentially whatever sparks my imagination and ignites my creativity. I've even tiptoed into writing horror for young adults.
What three things are on your writing desk at any given moment?
At any given moment, on my writing desk, you'll find a good pen; a coaster for whatever beverage I'm enjoying be it coffee, soda, or wine; and a notebook. Actually many notebooks, on my desk, under it, inside it. Notebooks. I even carry one in my purse.
What hobbies do you have when you need a break from writing?
Like I think all writers do, when I need a break I read a book. Or I binge watch Harry Potter , Star Wars, and/or The Avengers MCU. I crochet and I love to dance. When I come up for air after a writing spree, I clean my house.
