Anastasia Abboud Author Bio:
For me, playing is the best — playing outdoors in nature or in my garden, experimenting in the kitchen, spending time with those I love. I also enjoy disappearing into a good book, attempting crafts, learning, writing, exploring, discovering. I especially like to mix it up and have yet to perfect any of it, and I’ve come to realize that perfection’s not the point. It’s all wonderfully fun. That’s the point!
I prefer authentic and natural, be it food, lifestyle, people. I passionately enjoy both history and science, and certainly sociology to a degree, and I am most truly a romantic.
My husband and I have been married for over forty years. We reside near Houston, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. We have a blast with our little grandchildren.
I thank God for this wonderful life.
What inspires you to write?
The miraculous beauty of life, love, and the joys of a simple life inspire me from the wake till I sleep.
Tell us about your writing process.
When the idea for a story or series strikes me, I usually write up a vague outline on my PC. You could say that my plots are character driven. Character sketches are very important to me, and I do them in detail. Once I start writing, the characters take over. If I try to ignore them and stick to the outline, that's when writing becomes a struggle.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I do more listening than talking to my characters. If I try to argue, they win! They absolutely take the story where they will.
Who are your favorite authors?
While I love history and nature books, what keeps up are romances and cozy mysteries! Some of my favorite romance authors are Mary Morgan, Julia Quinn, Ruth Casie, Judith Sterling, Barbara Bettis… Cozy mysteries — Marty Wingate, Carola Dunn, Kathleen Marple Kalb, and I recently enjoyed Susie Black's debut cozy!
What genres do you write?
Romance — contemporary, historical, time travel
How did you choose the genre(s) you write?
I've always loved romance and can't imagine writing anything else.
What three things are on your writing desk at any given moment?
I have a big, organized writing nook with lots of things on it — both practical and sentimental. But my cellphone, a large, desk calendar, and a notepad, while moved around a lot, are always on hand when I sit down to work.
What hobbies do you have when you need a break from writing?
My favorite hobbies are gardening, reading, and nature walks! I also enjoy cooking and maintain a yoga practice.
What formats are your books in?
