Amy Kaybach Author Bio:
Amy Kaybach has been writing since she learned to hold a pencil at three. When she’s not daydreaming about sexy rock stars and how to put them into print, she’s working in IT or planning her next grand adventure with her best friend since junior high.
She lives on the central coast of California with her two obnoxious, but well-loved beagles. As a motorsports fan she loves her cars loud and fast and as a music lover she her music hard and loud.
What inspires you to write?
I've always had a leaning towards writing. There is never a time where I didn't want to write a book. My mom has my first poem- I wrote it when I was four and it was something about a butterfly. But it's actually hard for me not to write.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am a total pantser to the core. I've tried a few goes at being a plotter but it just doesn't work for me. Ironically, this goes completely against me as a person- because I tend to plan things out to the extreme otherwise- just not in my writing.
I am also a linear writer so I tend to write my stories from beginning to end for the most part. Sometimes I'll be writing and I'll get an idea for a chapter or scene in the future and I'll write myself a few notes for that chapter so I don't lose the idea while I'm in the middle of writing something else but that is as close to planning as I get.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My characters talk do talk to me but not in the "I hear their voices in my head" way. They usually send me visuals. I'll "see" a scene in my head before I write it. When I see the scenes and how they will work themselves out – I'll say that particular character is talking to me.
Who are your favorite authors?
There are so many authors I love but short list are: Carian Cole, J. Bengtsson, JB Salsbury, Adriana Locke, Samantha Christy and K. Bromberg.
What genres do you write?
Romance
How did you choose the genre(s) you write?
I'm a sucker for a happily ever after. I think that romance a great escape and it's been one to me, so I can only hope that my books provide that escape to someone else.
What three things are on your writing desk at any given moment?
Something to drink (usually water or iced tea), a lollipop (my favorite writing snack), and my headphones because I like to listen to music (usually playlists i've built on either Spotify or Apple Music) or ambient noise videos on youtube.
What hobbies do you have when you need a break from writing?
I read. But I also love to paint. I'm not very good at it, but I paint rocks and leave them around my neighborhood while walking the dogs. My dad does this as well and sometimes we do it together.
I also like to go on adventures with my BFF.
What formats are your books in?
