Interview with Author – Cheryl Ilov
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am a dancer, martial artist, and a recovering physical therapist turned Amazon #1 best-selling and award-winning author. I never planned on becoming an author, nor did I even consider myself a writer. However, I have always had a passion for storytelling, and I suppose my writing career began by chronicling medical documents and progress reports for thousands of patients as a medical professional in the fields of both respiratory and physical therapy. Along the way, I discovered that weaving stories along with treatment modalities helped educate my patients and was a powerful tool in their recovery and ongoing progress.
I started a blog in 2011, when a marketing “expert” I was working with set one up for me, even though I had no idea what a blog was or why I would possibly want one. But once I was able to figure it out, I began writing about health, fitness, and life in general, integrating my knack for storytelling and fine tuning my writing skills at the same time.
After a few years of writing blogs and attracting many followers, I had a mental head smacking moment when I realized that those blogs could be organized to create an outline for a manuscript and subsequent book. And that is when my new career as an author was launched, at the tender young age of sixty-one.
When I am not writing, you can find me in a ballet class dancing with my barre buddies, hanging out in a martial arts dojo beating up bad guys, hiking in the glorious Rocky Mountains, or relaxing at home with my handsome husband and our two adorable Italian Greyhounds. Life is good!

Interview with Author – Dr. Britney Caruso
I am originally from the suburbs of Chicago. I have always been a very hard worker. In fact, my second grade teacher told me that if I did not stop working so hard, I would burn out. Almost 40 years later, I am still running 100 mph. I am a single mother by choice with a boy who means the world to me.
Interview with Author – Sammie Marsalli
As an author I am certainly not an expert or an authority on Alzheimer’s. I am definitely not a professional author and didn´t pretend to write an authoritative masterpiece. I never pretended to be either one of those things. I am simply an ordinary “John Doe” caregiver, husband sharing my experiences living and caring for my wife with Alzheimer’s. We have been married 43 years, 3 kids now grown up, a great dog most of those years, a typical family on our own trying to hold on to my wife and avoid her shutdown. I began to realize there are probably other “amateur” folks like me on their own trying to take care of a loved one with this disease and possibly could benefit from my shared personal experiences. Soon this diary turned into this book.
This book started out as a daily diary of how my wife´s behavior was dramatically changing and how I was affected and began to relate to her differently. Writing helped me ventilate my deepest emotions and reactions in private as they were too personal to express to others. Somehow writing “alleviated” my continuous sorrow but also indirectly helped me make personal decisions and changes in how to interact with her behavioral changes. Taking notes almost daily seemed to be my personal escape.
Preventing Her Shutdown is my desperate effort to keep my wife with Alzheimer’s “connected”. In Real Time there are very personal unloaded feelings, emotions and reactions expressed, never confided to anyone while slowly losing my wife.
There are no two profile behavioral changes alike with Alzheimer´s. I describe these dramatic changes with my wife who is in the beginning of the advanced stages. My reactions have always been intuitive in my desperate attempts to keep her “connected” with me, family and her surroundings. Real time experiences and actions “racing against the Alzheimer’s clock” to keep her communicating and interacting every day, even though she no longer speaks are detailed in my never-ending battle to prevent her shutdown.

ABOUT GERRY
Before embarking on writing my first book BETWEEN WORLDS: MY TRUE COMA STORY I worked in various business roles for 50 years.
It was in my last role that my writing career developed.
In the late eighties/early nineties I ran events for ITV TELETHON 90 and 92 with NEXUS and OASIS in Leeds. The highlight being having one of our events staged in the main arena at HAREWOOD HOUSE. Nexus awarded me Gold Card status for my achievements. There were only eight cards issued in the country. It was a prestigious award. My Events and shows were very entertaining and form part of my story.
After undergoing major open-heart surgery at LEEDS GENERAL INFIRMARY in March 2018 I received a “gift” out of my induced coma.
So far, I have written 7 books and 80 tv series to date. I had never written books or for tv prior to being in a coma.
I have decided to tell my true story to the World.
I have been advised that BETWEEN WORLDS: MY TRUE COMA STORY would make a wonderful movie.
I hope that through my words you will come to know that exceptional things can happen after being in a coma.
I know God has given me a second chance.
Thanks always, to my beloved partner for everything.
I live in West Yorkshire.
I am a coma survivor.
My true story continues today.
