About The Order of Ascalon by Daniel J. Franks
Peter Butler is just a normal 16-year-old boy who lives with his granddad above their tatty bookshop in Whitby. His aunt and cousins resent him, and treat him with loathing and contempt. Peter has no real prospects, and has to work full time in the bookshop, and in a grotty hotel, just to pay the bills. His only friend is an old Irish wolfhound called Bamdingus.
After a mugging one night on his way home from work, Peter realises that he has magical powers. Afterwards, his life will never be the same again. The Illuminati pursue him to join their ranks, he meets his centuries old godmother – Glynnis, and he discovers that he is actually the son of King Arthur. Merlin transported him 1500 years into the future to protect him from an evil and powerful sorcerer-king called Mallus Mallus.
Discover how Merlin and Glynnis took Peter away from his parents as a baby, and how his family problems began with Saint George. Then follow Glynnis and Peter as they embark on the first part of their quest, to decipher the clues that lead them around the world, to recover long lost and powerful artefacts, in their efforts to locate and destroy Mallum Mallus for good.
